a women with amnesia. a hot spy. a mistaken identity. blonde hair. lip balm. a mysterious card. paris in the winter. a jumping off bridges. golden light. a river cruise. alibis. twins. banter. dreams. shower steam. tension. a cabin in the mountains. cable cars. spy novels.
the blonde identity by ally carter was such a fun adventure! it was a classic, fast-paced spy novel. when i was growing up, i was a huge fan of the gallagher girls series (remember i'd tell you i love you, but then i'd have to kill you. this book feels like the grown up version of that: the stakes are higher, the guy is hotter, and the protagonist is spunkier and finding strength in quiet ways.
:
zoe awakens in paris to the hottest man she’s ever seen, only to find that she is somehow embroiled in a high-energy chase. she has nothing but the clothes on her back and a few miscellaneous objects in her pockets, and the hot guy that has mistaken her identity (who is alex?) is telling her to run!
:
the book follows zoe and the man (sawyer) on a chase across europe — from a river cruise where they assume the identity of newlyweds, to a cabin in the woods, to a cable car at a mountain peak. as the two are on the run from just about every spy agency, zoe tries to unravel the mystery of her identity, her twin, and how she got entangled in this mess. oh yeah, and her feelings that are most certainly growing for sawyer.
:
read this is you’re a fan of spy novels, love a good romantic comedy (dual POV!) with banter, and want to escape into a riveting journey across europe. i will definitely be looking forward to the next book 🕵️
